Why Keeping a Journal Can Aid in Weight Loss

Today I wanted to talk to you about why keeping a journal can aid in your weight loss goals. There are a number of reasons why a journal is a good idea so let's start by taking a closer look at some of the benefits towards keeping a journal.

Benefit 1: Writing things down focuses your mind
When you write things down it helps to focus your mind. Writing your goals, plans, food intack, etc. with a pen and paper is a wonderful way to help to focus your mind on what you are trying to achieve. Using a computer or other electronic device is an acceptable alternative but it is less ideal for what you are trying to achieve. The act of writing things down with a pen helps it to become solidified in your mind and will aid you in the weight loss process.

Benefit 2: Your results are trackable
Let's say for example that you needed to lose 90 pounds. This is a large number so it can become discouraging to you if you don't see an immediate result. If you keep a journal that you can reference when you are feeling discouraged this can help to motivate you to keep moving forward. This is especially true if you can look back at your record and see that you lost 5-10 pounds and have kept it off since x month, etc. Keeping a journal can be a powerful motivator for you when you are trying to lose weight.

Benefit 3: Keeps you on track
By writing down what you have been doing, the results you have been seeing, and the foods you have been eating it helps you to stay on track with your goals because you don't want to let yourself down. You are the only person that should ever be reviewing your notepad. Consider it like a diary if you must and keep it close to you so that you can document the important things that happen throughout your day. This can help you to gain a better perspective and you will be able to stay on track with your weight loss goals when you are holding yourself accountable with your journal.

Keeping a journal is an amazing tool that can be used to help you to start to shed the pounds that you want to shed but remember above all else that you have to be happy in your own skin before you can see any real progress.

I wish you nothing but the best on your personal weight loss journey.
