Reasons Why A Self Tanner Can Be A Better Selection

By Haywood Hunter

Using a self tanner product is a much healthier alternative to tanning beds or sunbathing as it means that exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays is not necessary. The formula of these tanning products have improved dramatically in recent years, and most will look natural when applied properly.

The primary key to success when you use any tanning cream or lotion will be distributing it consistently on your body so it doesn't have darker or lighter spots. Furthermore, areas on your body need to be exfoliated first. It will ensure that users will receive a tan that is exceptionally even looking.

Always hydrate any regions that are drier and rough to improve the likelihood of success. It typically consists of your elbows and knees. Exfoliation along with moisturizing should start a few days before you intend to put on the product. This will help the cream adhere to the body easier.

Right before using the lotion, it's recommended to take a shower using a gentle body scrub. This will smooth out any rough areas and remove dead skin cells. Additionally, it's suggested to shave or wax the legs as well to be certain that they will be at their smoothest prior to the application.

When actually applying the product, always start in one area and apply on the skin as evenly as possible. Always try to avoid the fingers and toes as these areas do not tan very well. When finished, allow everything to dry thoroughly before touching any surface such as clothes or any other object. This process usually takes about an hour or so from start to finish.

Finally, after you've applied the self tanner always wash the hands thoroughly using soap and water. This helps in avoiding turning the palms to an orange looking color. Additionally, it's recommended you test small portions of your skin first.
